Description Revolution OS

The documentary film Revolution OS tells the story of the hackers and programmers who rebelled against the model of proprietary software, specifically Microsoft, created GNU/Linux, and brought the Open Source movement to life.
Microsoft fears GNU/Linux, and rightly so. Because GNU/Linux and the Open Source and Free Software movements probably pose the greatest threat to Microsoft's way of life. The film identifies the masterminds behind Linux and explores how and why Linux has become such a powerful threat to Microsoft.
Revolution OS includes interviews with Linus Torvalds, Richard Stallman, Bruce Perens, Eric Raymond, Brian Behlendorf, Michael Tiemann, Larry Augustin, Frank Hecker, and Rob Malda.
The film has already been shown at numerous festivals and won the Best Documentary category at the Savannah Film & Video Festival and the Kudzu Film Festival. Revolution OS was shot in Silicon Valley on 35mm in widescreen format and has a runtime of 85 minutes.
Our special edition also includes a second DVD with 70 minutes of additional interviews, biographies, the "Free Software Song," and much more.
The film has not yet been translated or subtitled and can only be viewed in English.
You can watch the first 8 minutes of the film here.
