Description RFID protective cover
Everyone likes to be in control of who they give what information about themselves, but modern data collection methods are making it increasingly difficult to keep track. One of these methods, which is becoming increasingly widespread, is RFID chips, which are now found in many plastic cards. They can be read without you noticing.
However, with RFID protective sleeves you can prevent this and retain control over your privacy. The card sleeves are very thin sleeves that can be slipped over plastic cards and put in your wallet. The frequency with which the chips are read is disrupted by a shielding film in the protective sleeves.
Of course, the chips can still be read if you wish. All you have to do is remove the card from the sleeve.
About RFID
RFID is the abbreviation for Radio Frequency IDentification. This is how the chips are read: The reader transmits at a specific frequency, causing an induction in the chip, which can then send its identification number to the reader even without a battery. As the reading process takes place via radio, it usually goes unnoticed.
RFID chips can now be found invisibly in many labels and packaging, in the BahnCard 100, in many student ID cards, in Payback cards and in the new EU passports. The latter is particularly tricky, as an ID card directly identifies the person to whom it belongs (with a label, the person must first be identified via the credit card charge).
With RFID protective covers, however, you can eliminate many of these sources of insecurity and protect your privacy.
